Activities are color-coded by type. The patterns that emerge demonstrate the repetitiveness of paid labor outside the home, juxtaposed with the repetitive, domestic medium of quilting. Women’s work in the home is often seen as brainless, but work outside the home also necessitates mundane tasks. Furthermore paid and unpaid labor can be incredibly stimulating and impactive, but sometimes our view of what is glamorous or interesting is colored by whether or not it is considered women’s work.
